Photo Exhibition Highlights Armenia’s Mine Warfare in Azerbaijan

Rome:A photo exhibition focusing on Armenia's mine warfare against Azerbaijan has opened in Rome as part of the international campaign 'Mine-free world,' organized by Azerbaijan's 'Gilavar Photo Club' Public Union.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, this initiative is part of a broader effort to raise awareness within the international community about the ongoing landmine issue in Azerbaijan. Despite the cessation of hostilities between Armenia and Azerbaijan, landmines remain a significant threat to civilians. The exhibition aims to highlight the urgent need to address this humanitarian issue.

The campaign has already featured a series of photo expositions across Europe, including events held on October 5 in Geneva, October 7 in Brno, October 9 in Ljubljana, October 11 in Sarajevo, October 13 in Zagreb, and October 15 in Salzburg. These exhibitions inform visitors about the extensive mine contamination in Azerbaijani territories during the Armenian occupation and the challenges posed by the lack of accurate mine maps, which hinder the safe return of displaced Azerbaijanis to their homelands.

The 'Gilavar' Photo Club is recognized for its work in this field, having won a grant competition in 2026 for initiatives addressing the problem of mines and unexploded ordnance. This competition was jointly organized by the Agency for State Support of Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Garabagh Revival Fund, in partnership with ANAMA.
