Pirated Goods to Be Surrendered to State Under New Law

Baku: Pirated or counterfeit goods may now be surrendered to the state, following a recent legislative amendment. The amendment to the Customs Code was discussed during the latest session of the Milli Majlis, where lawmakers reviewed the draft that outlines the handling of such goods.

According to Azeri-Press News agency, the draft specifies that when goods transported across the customs border are identified as pirated or counterfeit, the responsible party must act promptly. They are required to either remove the goods from the customs territory, destroy them, or voluntarily surrender them to the state.

After thorough discussions, the draft law was subjected to a vote and successfully adopted in the third reading, marking a significant step in the country's efforts to combat the circulation of counterfeit products.
