Baku: The economic-trade sector continues to be a cornerstone of the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Trkiye, as highlighted by Azerbaijan's Prime Minister, Ali Asadov, during the 12th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the two nations. Trkiye is regarded as one of Azerbaijan's major partners in import, export, and trade turnover.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Azerbaijan has invested over USD 20 billion into the Turkish economy, while Trkiye has reciprocated with investments amounting to USD 18 billion in Azerbaijan. The Prime Minister emphasized the active operation of 3,000 Azerbaijani companies in Trkiye, and he noted the presence of more than 4,600 commercial entities with Turkish investment in Azerbaijan.
PM Ali Asadov further stated that necessary conditions have been created for the activities of Turkish companies, which are significantly involved in ongoing projects in Azerbaijan's liberated territories. Approximately twenty Turkish companies are undertaking around 50 projects in these areas, valued at about USD 5 billion. These projects encompass diverse sectors such as construction of highways and railways, energy, agriculture, water supply, land reclamation, and design.
