Poland could tighten curbs if cases continue to surge

Polish Health Minister Adam Niedzielski said on Monday the government might expand coronavirus-related restrictions if the number of daily registered COVID-19 cases continues to increase, APA reports citing Teletrader.

“If we are at an average level of over 7,000 cases per day at the end of October, we will have to consider taking some more restrictive steps,” local agency PAP quoted Niedzielski. The possibility of introducing lockdown is excluded, the minister noted, adding that the final decision will likely be announced next week.

The number of positive cases started resurging in Poland earlier this month to reach the figure last seen during early May. Last week, health authorities reported nearly 6,300 daily cases.
