Ankara:A police officer was killed in a shooting incident in the Pursaklar district of Ankara during an identity check, as reported by APA.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the incident unfolded when police officers stopped a vehicle for an identity check. During the process, a suspect sitting in the back seat exited the vehicle and fired twice at police officer Ahmet Trkoglu.
Emergency medical teams and police were immediately dispatched to the scene. Officer Trkoglu, who was seriously injured, was transported to Pursaklar State Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
Ankara Governor Yakup Canbolat detailed that the incident took place around 11:25 p.m. at a checkpoint on the Karacaören-TOKI road. The vehicle had three occupants; two were detained after the attack, while the suspect who fired the shots attempted to take his own life and was left in critical condition.
