Constanta: The Port of Constanta and the Danube transport system are emerging as crucial components for enhancing transit between Asia and Europe, according to Romanian political scientist Iulian Chifu. In the latest episode of the "Azerbaijan and the World" program broadcast on the AZERTAC website, Chifu elaborated on the strategic importance of these infrastructures.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Chifu explained that the Black Sea and the Port of Constanta provide an efficient means of transporting containerized cargo from China and Central Asian countries to Europe. He highlighted that this route stands out as one of the shortest and most promising for Eurasian trade.
Chifu underscored the significance of utilizing the Danube River, which connects several European capitals and offers access to the internal markets of the European Union via a network of canals. He pointed out that river transport remains the most cost-effective mode of transportation, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the route.
Furthermore, Chifu emphasized that developing this route will help reduce reliance on the congested and politically sensitive routes through the Suez Canal, providing a more stable and efficient alternative for international trade.
