Vatican: Head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis has highlighted the importance of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia as he delivered his annual “State of the World’ address to members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Holy See.
Reiterating his perspective of the situation in the South Caucasus, the Pope urged the parties to sign the peace treaty.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to the Holy See Ilgar Mukhtarov conveyed the greetings and congratulations of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Pope Francis, and invited him to attend the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be held in Azerbaijan.

The Organization of War, Labor and Armed Forces Veterans of Azerbaijan will monitor the process of the early presidential election scheduled to be held on February 7, said Jalil Khalilov, the Deputy Chairperson of the organization, Trend reports.
He noted that the lists of members of the organization will be submitted to the Central Election Commission (CEC) in the coming days.
“Our organization and its many members have always played an active role in the life of the country. The organization will also pay close attention to the presidential election process. I trust that our veterans will effectively do this responsible work and make a valuable contribution to a fair and democratic political process,” Khalilov concluded.
