Moscow: A presentation ceremony for Azerbaijani director Rufat Asadov’s film ‘Mother’s Prayer’ took place at the Cultural Center of the Russian Mountain Jews Association.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the event was organized by the International Mountain Jews Foundation and the ‘Sholumi’ Cultural Center.

The film explores the history of the Mountain Jews who settled in Azerbaijan’s Oghuz district and highlights the significant contributions made by Mountain Jews in Israel to promote Azerbaijan. It also celebrates the enduring friendship between the Azerbaijani and Jewish communities.

The central figure in the documentary is Rabbi Shmuel Simantov, born in Oghuz and currently residing in Israel, where he remains an active member of the Azerbaijani diaspora. The film’s producer, Shaul Siman-Tov, is also a prominent member of this diaspora in Israel.

This documentary is the seventh film directed by Rufat Asadov focusing on the Mountain Jews, continuing his exploration of their rich history and cultural contributions.
