Khankendi: A documentary film titled “Zafar Zangi” (‘Victory Bell’), dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the 44-day Patriotic War, was unveiled at Karabakh University in the city of Khankendi. The event was organized by the Public Relations Department of the Reconstruction, Construction, and Management Service in the cities of Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly, as reported by APA’s Karabakh bureau.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the presentation commenced with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by the playing of the National Anthem. Afet Telmanqizi, the film’s scriptwriter, who is also an honored journalist and head of the Public Relations Department of the Reconstruction, Construction, and Management Service in Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly, expressed a deep sense of pride in showcasing a film that highlights the heroism of Azerbaijani warriors in Khankendi.
Telmanqizi emphasized that the 44-day war marked the end of a prolonged 30-year longing and the beginning of a significant victory. She praised the unity and strength of the Azerbaijani people, stating, “For 44 days, our people were united as one heart, one fist. Thousands of our brave soldiers shielded their lives to liberate our lands. This history, written in the blood of our martyrs, was achieved through the strength of our army and the unity of our people. Today, the land we stand on, our homeland, is free. Our state sovereignty is now complete, our territories whole, and our borders inviolable. Long live our Victory, long live Azerbaijan!”
Continuing her speech, Telmanqizi highlighted the film’s role in honoring the nation’s history, pride, and victory, and in revisiting the most glorious chapters of the past. She stated, “Let this presentation be a prayer for the souls of our martyrs, a gesture of gratitude to our veterans, and a roadmap for our youth.”
The event also featured a speech by Kamran Nasirov, father of a martyr and resident of Khankendi, who shared his son Xaqani’s battle journey and expressed pride in living on the land liberated by his son’s sacrifice. Aslan Sharifov, a member of the Special Forces, recounted his first steps into the liberated Khankendi and shared memories of those pivotal days. Attendees also viewed a video clip that showcased recent developments and relocations in Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly.
The ceremony was attended by employees of the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly, staff from the Reconstruction, Construction, and Management Service, heads of state institutions operating in Khankendi, veterans, members of martyr families, intellectuals, and media representatives.
