Baku: ‘Unfortunately, in the historical lands of Western Azerbaijan, from which our fellow Azerbaijanis were also expelled, our people’s rich tangible and intangible heritage was deliberately and systematically annihilated or falsified as part of a policy aimed at erasing all traces of Azerbaijanis from their historical and ethnic lands,’ said President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in his address to the participants of the International Conference themed ‘Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas,’ APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev highlighted the importance of recent efforts to restore Azerbaijani heritage. He cited the decision to restore the Irevan Qadi Council, made at the meeting of the Caucasus Muslims Board Qadi Council, as a significant step toward restoring historical justice. This move aims to convey the truth to the international community about the destruction of cultural, religious, and moral heritage in Western Azerbaijan.

President Aliyev’s address underscored the systematic nature of the policies he claims have been pursued against Azerbaijanis in the region. The president’s remarks were part of his broader message at the conference, which focused on the themes of bias and stigma, particularly in relation to Islamophobia.
