Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Kairat Sarybay, Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). During the meeting, Sarybay expressed his pleasure in visiting Baku coinciding with Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of CICA. He acknowledged Azerbaijan’s successful leadership in various international organizations and noted the country’s effective chairmanship in CICA, supported by a conceptual document outlining proposals for the organization’s future development and cooperation enhancement among member states.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Ilham Aliyev affirmed the progress of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship, emphasizing the efforts to strengthen cooperation among member states and the organization’s institutional development. He highlighted the importance of collaboration in sectors such as youth, media, and transportation links. The president expressed confidence in Azerbaijan’s continued contribution to CICA’s strengthening and stressed the need for active cooperation to implement planned activities during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship.
Furthermore, Sarybay congratulated Azerbaijan on successfully hosting COP29 under President Aliyev’s leadership, acknowledging the significant efforts made in preparation. He pointed out the important decisions taken at the event concerning the global climate agenda. President Aliyev, in response, acknowledged the challenges of the tight timeline but emphasized the crucial decisions made regarding the new finance goal and carbon markets.
The meeting underscored Azerbaijan’s commitment to its responsibilities and its role in fostering trust and cooperation among Asian countries through CICA.
