Baku: President Ilham Aliyev has reaffirmed Azerbaijan's stance on maintaining its sovereignty against any external influences, particularly from neighboring Iran. Speaking at a Security Council meeting, President Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan will not allow its territory to be used for any purposes against Iran, as reported by APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev addressed the provocations from Iran, highlighting the unfounded accusations and malicious media campaigns orchestrated by Iranian state-controlled media. These efforts, he noted, were attempts to tarnish Azerbaijan's image and sway the opinions of Azerbaijanis residing in Iran. Despite these adversities, the president asserted that independent Azerbaijan remains a beacon of hope for many Azerbaijanis living across the border in Iran.
