Turkmenbashi:President Ilham Aliyev has emphasized the need for a permanent mechanism to enhance cooperation and monitor the implementation of decisions regarding the Caspian Sea.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, President Aliyev recalled his 2022 proposal at the Sixth Caspian Summit in Ashgabat, suggesting the formation of expert groups to investigate the reasons behind the Caspian Sea's declining water levels and to develop preventive measures. He noted that the passage of time has validated the importance of this initiative.
He stressed the transition from general discussions to the establishment of a sustained cooperative framework. This would involve identifying all contributing factors to the sea level decline and obtaining a comprehensive scientific evaluation of potential future developments.
