President Aliyev Stresses International Legal Norms as Foundation for Trust Between Azerbaijan and Armenia

Abu dhabi: President Ilham Aliyev underscored the necessity of international legal norms to establish trust between Azerbaijan and Armenia during the 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum. He emphasized the importance of these norms as a guarantee against changing positions, particularly in light of Armenia’s shifting stance on the Karabakh conflict.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev highlighted the need to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group, which was formed to address the Karabakh conflict. He asserted that if Armenia considers the conflict resolved, it is imperative to dissolve the group. He also called for amendments to the Armenian constitution to remove declarations of independence that assert territorial claims against Azerbaijan.

President Aliyev noted that the peace treaty’s text has been agreed upon, with Azerbaijan suggesting the initialing of the document. He expressed optimism about moving towards a stable future, stating that a more acceptable situation in the South Caucasus could lead to potential cooperation among the region’s countries.
