Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Friedrich Merz addressed the press in Berlin, marking a significant moment in Azerbaijan-Germany relations. According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Chancellor Friedrich Merz emphasized the shared concerns of Germany and Azerbaijan regarding the ongoing global conflicts, notably in the Middle East and Ukraine. These events have influenced both nations' security and economic interests, prompting a united call for negotiated solutions to ensure long-term peace and stability. Chancellor Merz highlighted the importance of peace in the South Caucasus, acknowledging the initialing of the peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia as a historic step towards resolving a long-standing conflict.

The discussions between the two leaders have opened avenues for economic cooperation. Chancellor Merz pointed out the significance of the Azerbaijan-Germany Business Council, established through the signing of the Joint Declaration, as a milestone in expanding bilateral relations. Chancellor Merz also indicated that Azerbaijan's investment program proposal could present new opportunities for German enterprises.
