Jabrayil: On May 9, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva met with residents who relocated to the village of Shukurbeyli in the Jabrayil district, APA reports. The head of state delivered a speech during the meeting.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev congratulated the residents on their return to their native land and highlighted the comprehensive reconstruction of Shukurbeyli village. He noted that during the occupation, the Armenian state had completely destroyed the area, leaving no building intact. However, the Azerbaijani government has fulfilled its promise to rebuild the territories, creating a modern village equipped with amenities such as a school, a music school, kindergartens, a medical center, and comfortable housing.
The president emphasized the significance of reclaiming and reviving the lands that were once under occupation. The return of the residents symbolizes a triumph of justice, as they reclaim their homeland and continue to build on their cultural legacy.
President Aliyev also addressed employment opportunities for the returning residents, stating that both public sector jobs and agricultural opportunities are being developed. The Araz Valley Economic Zone Industrial Park in the Jabrayil district is operational, providing a space for production activities and further economic expansion.
In addition, the president noted the ongoing infrastructure development, including the restoration of roads and the construction of new transportation corridors. He highlighted the region's potential for agricultural and transportation contributions to the country. The development of solar and hydroelectric power plants in the area is expected to significantly enhance energy capacity and create employment opportunities.
The president urged the residents to restore traditional agricultural practices, such as viticulture and livestock farming, and to embrace modern technologies for agricultural development. He emphasized the importance of educating the younger generation about the region's history and the pride of their victory.
The meeting concluded with a key handover ceremony, marking the formal return of the residents to their rebuilt homes. President Aliyev reiterated his congratulations and expressed his wishes for the well-being and prosperity of the community.
