President Ilham Aliyev: Azerbaijan and Hungary Are Strategic Partners

Baku: “Azerbaijan and Hungary are strategic partners,” Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev declared during a press statement alongside Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orb¡n, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Ilham Aliyev highlighted Azerbaijan’s recent history, noting that the country had been at war four and a half years ago. He stated that Azerbaijan successfully ended the 30-year occupation of its lands by Armenia. Unlike the ongoing Russia-Ukraine War, Azerbaijan’s conflict lasted only 44 days. Aliyev pointed out that during the conflict, Azerbaijani forces advanced daily without retreating, and there were no deserters in their army. In contrast, he claimed that the Armenian army reportedly had 12,000 deserters.

President Aliyev further emphasized that the war was conducted in accordance with the UN Charter. He cited Article 51, which grants every country the right to self-defense. Exercising this right, Azerbaijan liberated the territories that had been under occupation for many years, fully restoring its sovereignty in 2023.
