President Ilham Aliyev Commends Azerbaijani National Press for Its Role in National Aspirations

Baku: President Ilham Aliyev has praised the Azerbaijani national press for its significant contributions to the country’s cultural and intellectual development. In a congratulatory letter addressed to media representatives on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the national press, he highlighted the press’s role in addressing societal concerns and promoting advanced ideas and progressive thoughts.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev emphasized that the national press has played a crucial part in educating the public, promoting national and human values, and developing the Azerbaijani literary language. He noted that these efforts have been instrumental in realizing the nation’s aspirations for freedom and independence.

In his message, President Aliyev reflected on the historical impact of the newspaper ‘Akinchi,’ first published by Hasan bey Zardabi on July 22, 1875. The newspaper was a catalyst for the enlightenment movement in Azerbaijan and contributed to national awakening. It also played a vital role in shaping the development of a progressive generation of journalists, publishers, and intellectuals, leaving a lasting influence on the public and political life of the Caucasus region.
