Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev recently engaged in a telephone conversation with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, as reported by APA. The discussion focused on a newly implemented project that involves the delivery of Azerbaijani gas to Syria, a collaborative effort between Azerbaijan, Trkiye, Qatar, and Syria. The financial support provided by Qatar for this project was a key point of discussion.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the conversation also highlighted the significance of the Agreement on Establishment of Peace and Interstate-Relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which was initiated during President Aliyev’s visit to the U.S. This agreement, along with other related documents, is seen as pivotal for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region. U.S. President Donald Trump’s role in facilitating these outcomes was acknowledged and appreciated.

Further discussions included the unimpeded transport links between Azerbaijan’s mainland and its Nakhchivan region, which President Aliyev noted would positively impact the future carrying capacity of the Middle Corridor. He also expressed gratitude to the Emir of Qatar for supporting the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani congratulated President Aliyev on his leadership in advancing the peace agenda and acknowledged the historic outcomes achieved. President Aliyev extended an invitation to the Emir to visit Azerbaijan, which was graciously accepted.
