Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev highlighted the demand for objectivity in the investigation of the Embraer 190 passenger plane crash. This sentiment was expressed during his meeting with the families of the crew members who lost their lives and the surviving flight attendants from the crash on the Baku-Grozny route, as reported by APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev stressed that the decision to send the black boxes to Brazil underscores Azerbaijan’s insistence on an impartial investigation. He mentioned that if there had been attempts by Russian Federation officials to objectively investigate the tragedy from the beginning, Azerbaijan might have agreed to the black boxes’ decoding by the Interstate Aviation Committee. President Aliyev noted the longstanding cooperation with this committee, which has historically been responsible for investigating airplane crashes in the former USSR.
However, President Aliyev expressed concerns over attempts to downplay the incident, attributing it to potential causes like birds or a gas cylinder explosion. Such actions have led to doubts about the committee’s objectivity in the investigation. The black boxes are currently being decoded, and President Aliyev is confident that preliminary results will soon clarify the tragedy’s circumstances. This will be a crucial step in the comprehensive investigation and the accountability of those responsible.
