KAZAN: President Ilham Aliyev engaged in informal discussions with leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on the sidelines of the BRICS summit held in Kazan. The discussions took place during the Outreach/BRICS+ format of the XVI BRICS Summit, where Aliyev was present at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to Trend News Agency, President Aliyev participated in the summit, which is structured in two parts. The first part focused on the theme “Strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Security,” aligning with Russia’s BRICS chairmanship motto for 2024. The second part of the summit included a session in the BRICS Plus/Outreach format, under the theme “BRICS and the Global South – building a better world together.” The summit provided a platform for Aliyev to engage with CIS leaders, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and dialogue in addressing global challenges.
