Baku: 'I am confident that this visit will play an important role in the future development of our bilateral relations,' President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, said during a press statement in Baku with the President of the European Council, Ant³nio Costa.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Aliyev highlighted the significance of the European Union as Azerbaijan's primary trading partner. 'I looked at the economic indicators several times last year, and in January this year, 50 percent of our trade was carried out with the European Union. This shows that the European Union is our number one trading partner,' he stated.

President Aliyev expressed optimism about future collaborations, emphasizing the potential for new projects and investment opportunities. He mentioned the prospect of increased investments in both directions, which he believes will lead to more active engagement in trade between Azerbaijan and the EU.
