Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, delivered a significant address on the occasion of the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis and the New Year. The President reflected on the nation's successes and outlined future objectives as reported by the Azeri-Press news agency.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, President Aliyev emphasized the end of 2025 as another year of peace, security, and stability for Azerbaijan, crediting the unity between the people and the government as a key factor in these achievements. He expressed confidence that 2026 would also be successful in meeting the country's goals.
President Aliyev reflected on the fifth anniversary of Azerbaijan's Victory in the Patriotic War, highlighting the end of thirty years of Armenian occupation and the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. The strengthening of the Armed Forces over the past five years was noted, with advancements in military capacity and the establishment of Commando Forces.
The President stressed that Azerbaijan is not preparing for new conflicts but underscored the importance of being ready to defend national sovereignty amidst a global arms buildup. He celebrated Azerbaijan's international recognition and success in asserting its Victory on global platforms, mentioning the peace treaty with Armenia as a testament to the country's diplomatic achievements.
President Aliyev also highlighted Azerbaijan's strengthened international relations and its membership in organizations like the D-8 international organization and the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia. He noted the significance of hosting prestigious international events and the importance of equal partnerships in foreign relations.
Economically, the President praised Azerbaijan's record foreign exchange reserves and reduced external debt, commending the country's improved credit rating and investment outlook. He shared progress on the Great Return Program, with significant development in liberated territories and the return of formerly displaced persons.
