President Ilham Aliyev Highlights Mine Incident Casualties Since 2020

Baku: President Ilham Aliyev announced that since the end of the Patriotic War in 2020, 437 Azerbaijani citizens have fallen victim to mine and explosive ordnance incidents. This includes civilians, servicemen, deminers, journalists, and individuals involved in reconstruction activities. The incidents have resulted in 73 deaths and 364 severe injuries, as stated by President Aliyev during his address to participants of the 4th International Mine Action Conference themed 'Humanitarian Demining for Urban Recovery: Setting Standards of Excellence for Safe Settlements.'

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev further noted that the impact of mines has been a longstanding issue for Azerbaijan. Since the beginning of Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan, over 3,500 citizens have suffered due to mines, with victims including children, women, and other civilians. The president highlighted the tragic effects of this hidden threat on the lives of Azerbaijani citizens.
