New york: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev emphasized the strategic importance of the Zangezur Corridor as a new connectivity project and a crucial component of international transport routes during an interview with the U.S. television channel Fox News.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the President, while visiting the United States, discussed the agreement on the Zangezur TRIPP corridor, highlighting that it is not targeted against any nation. He expressed gratitude to President Donald Trump and his team for their contributions to the agreement, which he described as a significant step towards peace.

President Aliyev also addressed relations with Russia, specifically referring to the incident involving the downing of Azerbaijan Airlines flight number 8243 in December 2024. He stated that Azerbaijan does not consider the event a deliberate attack but emphasized the need for accountability, urging that those responsible be punished and compensation be provided to the victims and the airline.
