Kalbajar: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, alongside First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, visited the first residential complex in Kalbajar. During this visit, they inspected the living conditions within individual and multi-story buildings and engaged with the residents who have recently relocated there.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev delivered a speech, welcoming the residents back to their native land after 32 years. He highlighted the historic significance of their return and the restoration of their rights. The President emphasized the Azerbaijani people’s resilience and attachment to their homeland, which contributed to this momentous occasion.
President Aliyev detailed the government’s efforts in creating favorable living conditions for the returning residents. He mentioned the ongoing construction projects, including additional residential complexes and infrastructure developments such as electricity, water, and roads. A new school is also under construction, set to open next year, while children will attend a modular school this academic year.
Reflecting on the past, President Aliyev discussed the strategic challenges Azerbaijan faced during the occupation of Kalbajar. He criticized the lack of protection by the then Azerbaijani leadership and the support provided to Armenia by other countries. He noted the absence of international sanctions on Armenia and how this emboldened the occupying forces.
The President recounted Azerbaijan’s journey toward liberation, highlighting the role of international recognition of their position and the strength of the Azerbaijani army. He praised the unity of the Azerbaijani people and their dedication to restoring territorial integrity. President Aliyev expressed gratitude to the martyrs and veterans who contributed to the successful outcome.
In his speech, President Aliyev outlined the measures taken post-2020 to fully restore Azerbaijan’s sovereignty. He noted key developments, such as the establishment of a checkpoint on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and strategic military operations. He declared the removal of separatists and the signing of an act of capitulation by the separatist junta.
President Aliyev emphasized the significance of September 19-20, 2023, as historic days for Azerbaijan, marking the completion of the Armenia-Azerbaijan reconciliation process. He celebrated the international community’s recognition of Azerbaijan’s victory and the resolution of the conflict.
He concluded by affirming Azerbaijan’s commitment to peace while remaining vigilant against potential threats. The President expressed confidence in Azerbaijan’s ability to protect its interests through military readiness and continued development. He reiterated the nation’s dedication to rebuilding and modernizing the liberated territories.
