BAKU: President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan met with Alexander Vlaskamp, the Chief Executive Officer of MAN Truck and Bus, to discuss cooperation in the transportation sector ahead of COP29. The meeting underscored Azerbaijan’s commitment to ensuring the success of the upcoming conference and exploring potential partnerships in green energy and transportation systems.

According to Trend News Agency, during the meeting, Alexander Vlaskamp congratulated Azerbaijan on its role as the host of COP29, emphasizing the event’s significance. He highlighted the critical role of the transportation sector in the conference and the importance of collaboration with Azerbaijan. President Aliyev expressed Azerbaijan’s dedication to completing preparations for COP29, noting the unanimous support from 198 countries to hold the event in the region for the first time.

President Aliyev also discussed Azerbaijan’s progress toward green and renewable energy, mentioning several implemented projects. He emphasized the importance of
an efficient transportation system and the potential for cooperation with MAN Truck and Bus. Both parties showed satisfaction with discussions on collaboration opportunities and the presence of the company’s vehicles in Azerbaijan. They agreed to explore both procurement and local production opportunities, forming a unified working group to conduct research in this area.
