Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Mircea Abrudean, President of the Senate of Romania. Abrudean congratulated Aliyev on the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, highlighting the recent signing of a declaration in Washington in the presence of the U.S. President, and the initialing of the Agreement on Peace and Establishment of Interstate Relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He expressed hope that these steps would contribute to regional peace and development.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Abrudean expressed satisfaction with attending the international parliamentary conference organized by the Milli Majlis in Baku, which marked the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He emphasized the friendship and partnership between Azerbaijan and Romania and noted the potential for further cooperation. Abrudean highlighted the importance of inter-parliamentary ties and collaboration within international parliamentary institutions to enhance bilateral relations.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked Mircea Abrudean and acknowledged President Trump’s significant role in advancing the peace agenda, noting its historical importance for the region. The meeting also highlighted the strategic importance of the Caspian submarine power cable project involving Azerbaijan, Romania, Georgia, and Hungary, aimed at delivering renewable energy from Azerbaijan and Central Asia to Europe.
The discussions further explored bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, emphasizing the strong ties between Azerbaijan and Romania.
