Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held discussions with a delegation led by Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. The meeting focused on strengthening inter-parliamentary relations and enhancing cooperation across political, economic, and humanitarian sectors.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Valentina Matviyenko conveyed her condolences regarding the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash on the Baku-Grozny route. She assured that Russian authorities are investigating the incident to provide an objective assessment.

The discussions also covered plans to continue fostering inter-parliamentary contacts between Azerbaijan and Russia, reflecting a mutual interest in deepening bilateral ties.
