Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the United Kingdom’s Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan, Lord Alderdice, to discuss bilateral relations and regional peace efforts. During this meeting, Lord Alderdice extended his congratulations to President Aliyev on the progress made in Washington towards advancing the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the congratulations and underscored the historical importance of the agreements reached with Armenia. He acknowledged the pivotal role played by President Donald Trump in facilitating these agreements. President Aliyev emphasized Azerbaijan’s commitment to continuing its peace efforts and highlighted how peaceful conditions could enhance the region’s economic potential.
The meeting also focused on the long-standing cooperation between Azerbaijan and bp, which has spanned over three decades. Both sides praised the successful development of bilateral relations based on strategic partnership, friendship, and trust. They noted the considerable potential for further cooperation in political, economic, trade, investment, energy-including renewable energy-defense industry, education, and other areas. The importance of reciprocal visits at various levels to deepen these relations was also highlighted.
The participation of British companies in the restoration and reconstruction activities in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories was recognized with appreciation, marking a significant contribution to the country’s efforts in these areas.
