President Aliyev emphasized that Pope Francis dedicated his life to preserving universal values, promoting interreligious and intercultural understanding, and fostering humanism. Aliyev highlighted the Pope’s efforts in establishing mutual understanding, unity, and solidarity among people.

The letter from President Aliyev noted that Pope Francis exemplified a life of service and selflessness, gaining worldwide respect and admiration for his noble deeds and calls for mercy and compassion. His contributions to the development of friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Holy See were also acknowledged.
