Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev recently met with a Croatian delegation led by Gordan Jandrokovic, the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament. This meeting marked Jandrokovic’s first visit to Azerbaijan, during which he expressed admiration for the capital city, Baku.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Gordan Jandrokovic congratulated President Aliyev on his significant contributions to the Azerbaijani state and its people. He also extended his congratulations regarding the progress made in Washington to advance the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Jandrokovic emphasized the strong relationship between Azerbaijan and Croatia and highlighted the potential to further expand interparliamentary ties. He noted the role of interparliamentary friendship groups and the importance of strengthening cooperation between various parliamentary committees.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed gratitude for the congratulations and highlighted the historic significance of the agreements reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He praised the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Croatia, noting Croatia’s consistent support for Azerbaijan’s relations with the European Union and NATO.
The discussions during the meeting also covered the development of bilateral relations based on friendship and partnership principles. They identified ample opportunities for cooperation in sectors such as energy, investments, and tourism. Additionally, the prospects for enhancing relations within international parliamentary organizations were explored.
