TASHKENT – During the inaugural meeting of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan High Intergovernmental Council, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan expressed the significance of Azerbaijan’s increasing international influence, particularly its upcoming role as host of COP29.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Mirziyoyev lauded Azerbaijan’s successful foreign policy, emphasizing that the upcoming COP29 summit, the first major environmental summit in the region, reflects Azerbaijan’s enhanced global standing. “We are also preparing very seriously for this summit,” stated Mirziyoyev, highlighting Uzbekistan’s commitment to playing a significant role in the global environmental dialogue.
