Abu dhabi: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The meeting was covered by APA's correspondent present in Abu Dhabi.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the leaders welcomed the progress achieved from the Washington Peace Summit, which was hosted by the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump. They emphasized the importance of maintaining positive momentum to advance the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan on a bilateral level.
Both leaders recognized that their respective societies are experiencing tangible benefits from maintaining peace. They expressed satisfaction with the commencement of bilateral trade, including the export of oil products from Azerbaijan to Armenia and the transit of grain and other goods via Azerbaijan to Armenia. The leaders agreed to further explore opportunities to expand trade and economic cooperation.
Additionally, the leaders welcomed reciprocal visits by civil society representatives and agreed on the importance of broadening confidence-building measures. Discussions also included the implementation of TRIPP and other connectivity projects.
President Aliyev and Prime Minister Pashinyan reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening peace and stability between their nations and agreed to continue dialogues supporting bilateral normalization efforts.
