President of Azerbaijan Extends Congratulations to Newly Elected Pope Leo XIV


Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has congratulated Pope Leo XIV on his election as the Pope of Rome, APA reports.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev expressed his congratulations in a letter, highlighting the strong relations between Azerbaijan and the Holy See. He emphasized the importance of continuing the sincere dialogue and mutual understanding that currently exists between the two, describing it as a model for international relations.



In his letter, President Aliyev noted Azerbaijan’s commitment to preserving religious, spiritual, and ethno-cultural diversity. He mentioned that these elements form a central part of Azerbaijan’s state policy, reflecting the country’s long-standing traditions of tolerance and multiculturalism.



President Aliyev also expressed his confidence in the continued development of cooperation with the Holy See. He stressed the importance of joint efforts in promoting universal values and fostering an atmosphere of mutual understanding and trust among different civilizations.
