Gabala: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, in Gabala. The meeting took place as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conveyed greetings from Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to President Ilham Aliyev. In response, President Aliyev expressed his gratitude and requested that his regards be sent to the President of Turkmenistan.

During their discussion, both leaders fondly recalled previous meetings and emphasized the importance of the 12th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States, which is scheduled to be held in Gabala. The summit is seen as a crucial platform for enhancing cooperation among Turkic states and fostering closer people-to-people connections.

The meeting also highlighted the strong foundation of Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan interstate relations, which are based on brotherhood, good neighborliness, and cooperation. Both leaders acknowledged the successful development of bilateral ties across various sectors, including political, economic, transport, energy, parliamentary, humanitarian, cultural, and educational fields, as well as effective cooperation within international organizations.

The discussion concluded with an exchange of views on the prospects for further enhancing bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
