Nairobi: On December 4, Abdullah Bin Ali Al-Amri, President of the 7th session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA7) and Chairman of the Environment Authority of Oman, visited the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kenya.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Abdullah Bin Ali Al-Amri explored the memorial room and corner dedicated to Azerbaijan’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev at the Embassy. During his visit, Sultan Hajiyev, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kenya, provided insights into the history of Azerbaijani statehood, the political contributions of Heydar Aliyev, and the achievements under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. Discussions also covered Azerbaijan’s ongoing reconstruction and humanitarian demining efforts in liberated territories, and progress in the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace agenda.

Abdullah Bin Ali Al-Amri commended the collaboration between Azerbaijan, the Chair of the Permanent Representatives Committee of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and Oman’s UNEA7 in preparing for the 7th session of the UNEA, set to occur next week.

Ambassador Sultan Hajiyev emphasized Azerbaijan’s effective cooperation with UNEP and UNEA during the COP29 in November 2024. He also briefed the Omani official on the upcoming 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), scheduled to be hosted by Azerbaijan from May 17-22, 2026.
