Tashkent: Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are set to sign a Treaty on Eternal Friendship, as revealed by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Hajiyev discussed the strengthening ties between the two nations, highlighting the strategic alliance that has formed over recent years.

Hajiyev emphasized that the relationship between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, following high-level discussions in 2022, has reached a new pinnacle. He noted that this progression from a strategic partnership to a formal alliance and now to an eternal friendship is unprecedented in Azerbaijan's diplomatic history. Hajiyev pointed out the historical bonds between the two countries, citing cultural connections evident in the works of notable figures like Alisher Navoi.

The upcoming treaty aims to formalize the long-standing camaraderie shared by the two nations. Hajiyev mentioned that the Treaty on Eternal Friendship will symbolize the shared history and cultural roots that bind the peoples of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. He stressed that while eternal friendship is already a reality, the treaty will elevate this status to an official political level.

Hajiyev also touched upon the linguistic efforts made by Azerbaijani and Uzbek officials to communicate effectively. He mentioned the utilization of both Azerbaijani and Uzbek languages in conversation, with Russian being used for specific terminology. Hajiyev expressed optimism that increased practice would enhance mutual understanding, particularly in spoken exchanges.
