Baku: The Turkic world is emerging as a new political reality and a platform for cooperation across the wider Eurasian continent, according to Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration. Hajiyev made these remarks while addressing the annual Trans-Caspian Forum via a video link.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Hajiyev emphasized that last year, Azerbaijan became a full member of the Central Asian Consultative Council with unanimous support from the countries in the region. He described this development as significant, metaphorically referring to the council as C5+1, which he noted as a matter of chemistry, highlighting shared historical, cultural, and linguistic values between Central Asia and Azerbaijan.
Hajiyev further noted that Azerbaijan holds strategic alliances with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and other regional countries. He pointed out that the Organization of Turkic States provides an additional framework for cooperation. The Turkic world, with its young population, strategic energy resources, key mineral wealth, and strong economy, is solidifying its role as a new political reality and a collaborative platform across the Eurasian continent.
