Presidential Envoy for Climate Issues Highlights Azerbaijan’s Commitment to Sustainable Urban Development

Baku: Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to sustainable urban development, environmental responsibility, and climate resilience. Mukhtar Babayev, the Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for Climate Issues, emphasized this in a video address to the participants of the session on "Developing Azerbaijan's First National Sustainability Standard: The Sustainable Practices Standard (SPS)." This session was organized as part of the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13).

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Babayev highlighted that the organization of the forum itself has incorporated sustainability considerations. These include 'greener' event management approaches and internationally aligned sustainability standards. This initiative aligns with broader national priorities under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. These priorities focus on sustainable development, environmental protection, 'green' growth, and the transition toward a cleaner and more resilient economy.
