Lachin: Life is gradually returning to Lachin, Masim Mammadov, Special Representative of the President in Lachin district, which is part of the Eastern Zangezur economic region, said during the event titled 'Lachin-Kalbajar: The Road from Urbicide to Post-Conflict Reconstruction' held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports. He stated that Lachin and Kalbajar are being rebuilt and new residential settlements are being established.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Masim Mammadov emphasized the strategic importance of Karabakh, citing its complex ecological conditions. He mentioned that the restoration process involves more than just reconstruction, requiring modern approaches in planning, governance, and public participation. Ensuring sustainable development and creating long-term living conditions for residents are among the main priorities. Mammadov highlighted that reconstruction is not limited to physical restoration but also involves creating sustainable communities and ensuring the safe and transparent return of people to their native lands.

The special representative noted that large-scale reconstruction projects are currently being implemented. New residential neighborhoods are being established, while engineering infrastructure, roads, hospitals, parks, and educational institutions are being rebuilt. The focal point of these efforts is the people themselves. International events held in the region serve to strengthen Karabakh's renewed ties with the international community. Mammadov also pointed out that addressing global challenges, such as climate change adaptation and ensuring long-term sustainability, has become a key part of the development strategy. The vision being implemented in Karabakh today is focused on transforming the region's stability into a space for humanitarian development, with the ultimate goal of facilitating the return of people to their homes.
