Baku: Strengthening defense capabilities is of paramount importance given the current geopolitical climate, Prime Minister Ali Asadov emphasized during the presentation of the 'Report on the activities of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025,' APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Prime Minister highlighted that defense and national security budgets have seen a significant increase in the 2025 state budget. Specifically, 8.1 billion manats have been allocated for defense and national security, marking a 1.5 billion manat or 23% increase compared to the previous year, 2024. This allocation underscores the priority the Azerbaijani government places on maintaining the country's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security.
Prime Minister Asadov also noted the production of military products valued at 1.4 billion manats in the past year. Azerbaijan has made significant strides in the defense sector, exporting military products to nearly 20 countries, which highlights the country's growing influence and capability in military production.
He further emphasized the necessity of ongoing vigilance in preserving achievements, reinforcing security, boosting defense capabilities, ensuring border integrity, and safeguarding national interests amidst global uncertainties.
