Baku: A procedure for conducting digital investigations is set to be established in Azerbaijan, APA reports. This initiative is part of a new chapter proposed to be added to the Law "On Information, Informatization and Protection of Information," which was deliberated at the latest meeting of the Human Rights Committee of the Milli Majlis.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the proposed draft outlines that the Digital Investigation Center will conduct risk-based assessments of cyber incidents occurring at information infrastructure facilities. The outcomes of these assessments will guide the Digital Investigation Center in determining which incidents require a digital investigation.

The draft also suggests that Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) could be involved in the digital investigation process by the Digital Investigation Center. It emphasizes the necessity for maintaining the integrity of information gathered by CERTs or the Digital Investigation Center, ensuring that the information is neither altered, deleted, nor falsified. The draft mandates the use of methods and tools that comply with international cybersecurity standards during digital investigations.
