Istanbul: Professor Mahmud Erol Kili§, Director General of the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), emphasized the importance of promoting a more balanced urban lifestyle for the sustainability of cities during the panel session titled 'Sustainable and Empowering Cultural Revitalization' at WUF13.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Professor Kili§ highlighted that the protection of the city, preservation of its architecture and cultural heritage, establishment of peace, and restoration of prosperity must be pursued simultaneously. This holistic approach is crucial to ensuring the city's long-term sustainability.
He further elaborated that the development of cities should be people-centered. Urban development programs should not only address basic needs but also incorporate comprehensive strategies that safeguard the city's history, memory, and cultural identity.
