Baku: The Baku Military Court continued its trial against Armenian citizens accused of various crimes, as prosecutors issued their indictments. This trial marks a significant proceeding in the ongoing examination of criminal activities alleged against individuals from the Republic of Armenia, according to APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the trial has spanned approximately a year, with around 100 court hearings held and more than 500 hours dedicated to examining documents and evidence. Vusal Aliyev, Senior Assistant to the Prosecutor General, highlighted the comprehensive nature of the investigation, which included interrogations of the accused, victims, and witnesses. He emphasized that the evidence gathered during the preliminary investigation, alongside submissions from the defense, was meticulously reviewed. Aliyev asserted that the proceedings have confirmed the guilt of the accused in numerous criminal acts committed since 1988.

The hearing involves a detailed review of the charges against the accused, with the crimes allegedly committed by the Armenian state and associated criminal organizations being re-evaluated. The prosecutor made it clear that the individuals currently on trial represent only a fraction of those involved in the crimes mentioned.

The indictment accuses the individuals of direct or indirect involvement in crimes divided into 15 chapters, spanning from 1988 to September 20, 2023. The charges encompass war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, aggression, terrorism, and violations of the laws and customs of war. Additional charges include financing terrorism, violent seizure and retention of power, and other serious offenses.

Vusal Aliyev’s speech in court was structured into six parts, with the first part detailing evidence of the accused’s criminal intent and the establishment of a criminal organization. It also addressed the occupation of Azerbaijan’s sovereign territories. The proceedings continue as the court seeks to address the allegations stemming from Armenia’s military actions against Azerbaijan.
