Putin launched the work of the Kovykta gas field

Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the work of the Kovykta field via video link, gas from which will be supplied to the Power of Siberia. According to Putin, the Kovykta field will become the largest in Siberia, and the most important gas transportation route will be fully operational.

“We are launching the unique Kovykta gas condensate field, the largest in Eastern Siberia. Its recoverable reserves are 1.8 trillion cubic meters of gas,” the president said, adding that an 800-kilometer pipeline was built to deliver natural gas.

“Thus, our most important gas transportation route will be put into operation along its entire length. It will exceed 3,000 kilometers,” the Russian leader emphasized.

To supply gas from the Kovykta field to the Power of Siberia, the Kovykta-Chayanda section, 804 km long, was built. This is the second section of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, through which gas is supplied to China. The first section from the Chayandinskoye field in Yakutia to Blagoveshchensk (border with China) was launched in 2019
