Baku: President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin made a phone call to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to express gratitude for Azerbaijan's assistance in evacuating Russian citizens from Iran.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Putin thanked Aliyev for the prompt assistance provided in the evacuation process. He also appreciated the conditions Azerbaijan facilitated for the transit of Russian humanitarian aid to Iran through Azerbaijani territory.

During their conversation, both leaders emphasized the need for a swift cessation of military operations in the Middle East, advocating for the resolution of conflicts through political and diplomatic efforts. Additionally, they discussed vital issues concerning their bilateral agenda, confirming their mutual intention to enhance cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia across various sectors, in line with their strategic partnership and alliance principles.
