Baku: Ramiz Mehdiyev has been implicated in the legalization of more than 17,000,000 manats of funds obtained through criminal activities, as stated by the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This information was publicized in a statement reported by APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Mehdiyev submitted a document titled 'Proposals on the Restructuring of the State Administration System' in August-September 2025. The document, written in a foreign language, reportedly contained plans and directives against state power. It was delivered to Ali Karimli on September 27, 2025, through Mehdiyev's assistant, Amirov Eldar Gurban oglu, and others, aiming to reach a consensus on the matters outlined in the document.
On October 3, 2025, the final edited version of the article was dispatched through employees of the 'Sharg-Garb' OJSC, an entity owned by Mehdiyev, to senior officials of a foreign state's special service agencies with whom he had previous contact. This transaction was officially recorded, according to the statement.
Mehdiyev's actions are described as an attempt to seize state power with foreign assistance and forcibly change the constitutional framework. The statement labels these actions as treason, conducted in opposition to the security interests of Azerbaijan.
Additionally, the statement highlights that Mehdiyev legalized over 17 million manats of criminally obtained funds by October 13, 2025.
