Baku: The Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) has announced that the potential expulsion of Ramiz Anvar oglu Mehdiyev from his full membership in the Academy will be evaluated following the conclusion of ongoing legal proceedings. Mehdiyev is currently under house arrest as a result of a preliminary investigation conducted by the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, ANAS has issued multiple official statements concerning the situation, emphasizing their firm condemnation of Mehdiyev's actions, which they classify as anti-state. The Academy has labeled these actions as unforgivable and insists that any decision regarding Mehdiyev's expulsion will adhere strictly to existing legal frameworks.
The Academy has clarified that should Mehdiyev be found guilty by a court, his expulsion will be deliberated by the General Assembly of ANAS. The outcome of this deliberation will determine the appropriate course of action regarding his membership status.
