Saray: A farewell ceremony was held for martyr Abdulla Novruz Guliyev, whose remains were found 33 years after he was declared missing during the First Karabakh War, APA reports. Following the ceremony, the martyr’s remains were laid to rest at the cemetery in the Saray settlement of the Absheron district.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the funeral was attended by the martyr’s relatives, as well as representatives of the government and the public. The martyr’s brother, Ahad Aliyev, shared that his brother voluntarily participated in the battles for Shusha and was martyred there. He recounted that when Shusha was occupied in 1992, they received word that Abdulla was fighting near a gas station and was martyred there. After that, they had no further news about him.

Ahad Aliyev expressed gratitude for the recovery of his brother’s remains, stating that under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief, their lands were liberated, and they finally received news about his missing brother. He added, “His remains were found and buried today. I am grateful to everyone who contributed to this. We had been waiting for this day for 33 years. Now, we finally have a place to visit him.”

It is noted that martyr Abdulla Guliyev was born on October 26, 1968, in Goychay. He fought in the First Karabakh War and had been considered missing since May 8, 1992, in the city of Shusha.
